Find Print Books in the Library

Use the Library Catalog to locate books in the library on your topic:

  • Perform a word or phrase search using keywords such as "nursing diagnosis" or "nursing AND leadership." Word or phrase searches will search the entire records of all the items in the catalog, including author, title, and subject areas.
  • Perform a subject search using a keyword such as "medical-surgical nursing" to search for items on a specific topic.

The Library maintains a small collection of test prep resources as well. Check our reserves collection for

the latest editions.

Find Articles

The Library subscribes to several Nursing and Allied Health related databases, each of which provides access to research articles and other helpful resources. If you are away from campus, you will need to access these databases through Ocean Connect. If you are unsure how to do this, please follow these instructions, or ask a member of the Library's staff for assistance.

Here are a few suggested databases that may prove useful to your research:

  • CINAHL - the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature offers access to current research articles in the field, including peer-reviewed content.
  • ScienceDirect - A comprehensive, full text database providing coverage of core, scholarly journals and books from a wide variety of subject disciplines, including the health, social, and behavioral sciences.
  • Health Source Academic - Provides access to journals in medical disciplines. Also features the AHFS Consumer Medication Information, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.
  • Medline - Full text access to authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.  Created by the National Library of Medicine.
  • Academic Search Premier - Provides full text access to a very broad range of topics: computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more.
  • Facts on File - offers both the Science Online and a Health Reference Center reference databases. Filled with short, encyclopedic style articles and interactive features, these databases can provide easy, reliable content for your reference.
  • Opposing Viewpoints/SIRS Researcher - Databases dedicated to current and controversial topics.
  • New York Times - offers feature articles on health and health policy topics.
